Department of Korean Language and Literature

The Department of Korean Language and Literature combines Korean Language and Korean Classical and Modern Literature. Korean Language includes theoretical fields from Ancient Korean to Modern Korean. The graduate courses cover major areas of linguistics. The Korean Literature Program consists of Modern Literature and Korean Classical Literature including Traditional Literature. Modern Literature encourages students to explore the genre including poetry, novel, essay and drama, and Korean Classical Literature studies the art of literature in the past.

Department of English Language and Literature

The Graduate Program in English Language and Literature's goal is to prepare graduate students for teaching English language and literature at the college and university levels. The graduate courses in English Language cover major areas of linguistics, including: general linguistics, phonetics/phonology, syntax, morphology, lexical and formal semantics, psycho-linguistics, cognitive linguistics, history of English, history of linguistics, applied linguistics, socio-linguistics and TESOL. The courses in English Literature, while dedicated to the interpretation of the canonical British and American literary texts, encourages theoretical work in the fields of contemporary approaches to literature, including discourse analysis, feminism and cultural criticism.
